Birthday Boy

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010 | Uncategorized | 9 Comments

46 years ago, in a land far, far away (okay, it was Minneeapolis) my darling hubby came into this world. And I have to say this - he has made his way on his own terms and graciously taken me along for company. For that, I will always be grateful.

Happy Birthday sweetheart - I’m still older than you!

Baby, It’s Cold Outside

Friday, January 8th, 2010 | Uncategorized | 5 Comments

I’ve been working at getting my Christmas knitting/weaving done and now have a couple of things to show off. If you follow me on twitter, you’ve seen these, but for a couple who don’t - here you go.

Two woven scarves and a pair of mittens. I will cast on for HD’s Cobblestone this weekend and hopefully put a serious dent in getting this done!

Goodbye 2009, don’t let the door……

Thursday, December 31st, 2009 | Uncategorized | 4 Comments

hit you in the ass on the way out.

There were so many good things about 2009, but losing a loved one this year really put a hole in our lives. One we can never fill, we just have to learn how to live with it. I’m hoping this year will be one of healing and moving forward. I’m proud of how my family circled around during the rough times and also during the really good ones. We gained two family members, Baby Kaylyn and my niece-in-law Corie. We needed their light and we are so happy to have them.

I’m thankful for all my wonderful friends and most of all Bob, Spawn #1 and Spawn #2. They give me purpose.

I hope 2010 is a kinder, gentler year for us all.

See you on the flip side.

Party Like It’s 1999

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009 | Uncategorized | 3 Comments

Whew! What a weekend! Friday evening we had our office Christmas party and it was so much fun. It’s wonderful to work with people you like hanging out with after hours. Makes the workday so much easier to bear!

Sunday was the annual Knitter’s party thrown by Miss Jane, Alma and Claudia. They sure know how to throw a shindig! I brought my date, hockeydad, and he had fun too!  In addition to yummy food, tasty beverages and wonderful company, we had a gift exchange. You bring a gift, it is tagged with a number, and put in a pile. Then when it’s time you draw a number and that’s the gift you get out of the pile. (Sorry for blurry pic - used my iPhone as #1 has my camera right now.)  I scored some yummy Snarky Designs “Cushy MCN.” It’s Merino, Cashmere and Nylon all blended into a wonderfully soft sock yarn. I love the colorway  - “Eating for Two.” I also got an awesome pyramid project bag - I wonder if wearing this thing on my head with help get my energy centered? And, she included awesome highlighter tape - knitter’s use it for highlighting rows on charts or lines in a pattern. I guess non-knitters use it for highlighting text or sumpin’.  Thanks Katey!

Claudia gave us each a wonderful Christmas ornament - I can’t seem to get a good pic with my phone. I’m going to take a pic of them on our upstairs tree when we get one tonight. It was a wonderful party and I wanna go to another one! I can’t believe I’ll have to wait another year before the next Knitter’s Party!

A Knitter Has Been Born

Sunday, December 6th, 2009 | Uncategorized | 5 Comments

On Thanksgiving we went to our dear friends Rob and Debbie’s house for dinner and to hang. The day was wonderful and relaxing. Debbie has been asking me if I could teach her to knit for a while and that was the day. We got her cast on and she did really well.  By the end of the weekend, she had this much done:

Today, I showed her how to bind off and now it is this:

In true knitter fashion, she has given it to her son, TJ. We have a natural knitter here folks! She has more yarn and another scarf will be in progress. She says it will be for her, but that remains to be seen! Yay Debbie!

So what if I was basically sofa bound with headaches and yucky all weekend? I still got it done. Done Done Done.

Now, on to the little baby bell bottoms I am making my niece. They are so adorable.

Throw down

Thursday, November 19th, 2009 | Family, Knitting | 3 Comments

Hello. I’m back. Will try to remember to blog. Rilly.

Last Sunday, I took a finished sock over to my Mom and Dad’s place for her to try on before I cast on the 2nd. I wanted to make sure the first one fit so I wouldn’t have to frog back two socks, y’know? Here’s sock #1. Fits her perfectly.

My mom threw it down - she challenged me to get the 2nd one done by Thanksgiving. It is Thursday, and I’m a little over halfway up the foot. One week to go. Here I am on sock #2:

I can do this! Right? RIGHT? Heh. Advil and ice packs are ready - damn the torpedoes I’m going for broke!

Oh yeah. I have a blog.

Thursday, November 5th, 2009 | Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Hmmm, I’m not doing so well in the blog update department am I? I do have a few pics to share of SAFF, some by me (very few) and some by HockeyDad.  I bought only a few things (kid in college and all that), but for me it wasn’t about what to buy, it was about who to see. It was an awesome time, hanging out with friends - both well known and new to me. I promise to post soon, but for now, I’ll share this picture of my baby Kaylyn enjoying the Sunflower Doll I knit for her. And another one of her Halloween costume. I swear this whole flower thing was not planned!!

It’s A Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 | Friends, Knitting, Spinning, Weaving | 5 Comments

Tomorrow evening, HockeyDad and I head out to SAFF - The Southeastern Animal and Fiber Fair. This is my mecca and this marks the third year I’m going. I love it all - the animals, the fiber in various forms, and most of all, the friends I’ve made who will be there. This is the only time of year I get to see most of them and I’m just giddy with anticipation. Say a prayer for HockeyDad. This is his first time going and I’m not sure if he realizes just what he’s in for. We may be knitters, spinners and weavers, but we are one crazy group of people.

There will be pictures and stories I promise. So, if there are any readers left out there I will start posting next week.

Party on.
